Phu Quoc with Kids
Phu Quoc works well for families with young kids, especially the north side of the island. The water at Starfish Beach is knee-deep and calm, boats come with kid-sized life jackets, and the ride out is short enough that nobody gets restless. Here’s what we’d actually book for a family trip — not a list of every attraction on the island.

AT STARFISH BEACH
Starfish Beach Is the Easiest Stop for Families
knee-deep, calm, short boat ride, life jackets included
Please look, don’t touch — lifting a starfish out of the water hurts it, even for a few seconds. Most kids take this rule seriously once they understand why.
Boat: 200,000₫ (return, adults). Ages 7–12: half price. Under 7: free.
FULL FAMILY DAY
The Combo Works Well for a Full Day With Kids

It runs 4–6 hours, but nobody’s locked into a schedule — if your kids are done after an hour at the beach, we adjust. There are hammocks at the restaurant if someone needs to nap before or after lunch.
- No rigid schedule. Skip or shorten any part of the day.
- Hammocks at the restaurant. Somewhere to nap or just slow down.
- Food kids will actually eat. Tell us in advance if picky eating is a concern — we can keep it simple.
- Shallow, calm water. Same knee-deep conditions as the standalone boat trip.
750,000₫ (per person). Ages 7–12: half price. Under 7: free (meals not included, can share or order separately).
FOR OLDER OR ADVENTUROUS KIDS
The Fishing Trip Works Well for Kids Six and Up

This one’s more involved than the boat trip — real fishing, a private beach picnic, 4–8 people. It’s a genuine hit with kids old enough to take part: “Elders and kids in my family all enjoyed the fisherman experience very much… The experience ended with a picnic on a private beach with fishes/scallops/sea urchins/crabs that we caught.” — Google review.
We don’t recommend this trip for children under 6. It’s a real boat and real fishing, not a supervised kids’ activity, and younger children don’t get much out of it.
The water here is usually calm, but tell us in advance if anyone gets seasick and we’ll bring tablets.

What Families Say
If you are looking to enjoy a (rare) authentic Vietnamese experience on Phu Quoc then this is your tour!!! Ahn and the team were incredible. Our kids learnt to fish and caught some gorgeous little fish on our way to a magical little cove where we enjoyed an unforgettable dinner as well as some fantastic snorkelling and swimming.
Our kids love th boat ride over and had great fun looking at the starfish. We came back for lunch and ordered seafood and crab fried rice. Food was fresh and awesome. I love the mantis shrimp and the scallop. The sea urchin is much smaller and not quite the kind from Japan that we are used to. The crab fried rice is awesome and my 2 kids love it. Price is transparent and affordable. Highly recommended!
This was the absolute highlight of our trip to Phu Quoc! It was a very authentic experience for our family with young children aged 6, 4, 2. They were very responsive and accommodating and ensured that our tour would be appropriate for the kids. Starfish beach was absolutely amazing, crystal clear waters and beautiful soft sand – so picturesque, we only wish we had arrived earlier so would have more time to spend here!
